Long John was very curious about the letter. He ran into a couple of Naval Officers as he was thinking about it. They tried to arrest him. He span them around and threw them into the water. He quickly ran to a nearby inn, The Red Skull. There he found his crew.
'Are you happy with this bunch of drunkards?' asked the innkeeper, who was a very mean and stubborn man. He didn't even wait for an answer; he turned and got on with his work.
The crew didn't look very useful. 'Oh well, I suppose they'll have to do,' said Long John Silver. Off he ran to the Black Beauty with his crew following him. 'Hoist the main sail!' shouted Long John as they all jumped aboard.
It was night-time once more, and a storm blew up from the East. The ship rocked backwards and forwards on the waves. One of the sailors got seasick and bent over the side of the ship to vomit but he leaned too far, fell into the sea and drowned. 'There goes my first sailor,' said Long John Silver. 'That happens all the time on these voyages.'
Just then the dinner bell went. A sailor who had eaten earlier took over the ship's wheel. The meal was leek and potato soup. After dinner they all felt very tired. They all went to their hammocks, except for Long John Silver who was steering the ship and thinking about his dead uncle. He too was feeling very tired and he looked at the map once more. Then he looked out to sea and straight ahead he saw something strange. What could it be? Whatever it was it didn't look friendly. he ran below deck to warn the crew, who ran up quickly onto the deck to see this strange thing for themselves.
this is getting exciting, Ed. to be continued, methinks!
