The Lost Treasure: Chapter 1

Once, a ship was sailing the Atlantic ocean.  It was a rough and stormy night.  The ship's name was The Daystar and the captain's name was Yellowbelly Silver.  Suddenly, a big wave came and hit the ship.  The ship was sunk with Yellowbelly  still on board.

Yellowbelly sank down to an underwater cave with a pocket of air in it.  He thought it was safe but then a shark came along and ate him.  The only part that was left of him was his hand, which was holding a letter.  The tide carried the hand out to sea.

Several years later, Yellowbelly's nephew, Long John Silver, was standing on the edge of the jetty, looking out to sea.  A wave splashed up against the jetty, bringing with it a dirty and wet piece of paper.  He picked it up and looked at it.  Most of the writing had washed away but he could still make it out, because he could see the marks where the writing had been.  This is what it said:

 To whoever reads this,
if you open up this piece of paper
you will find a treasure map
leading to the long lost treasure
that was aboard my ship,
The Daystar.
From Yellowbelly Silver.

'That's the name of my dead uncle', said Long John in surprise! 'I'm going to need a crew to find that treasure!  It's a good job I have my ship,  The Black Beauty!'

To be continued....
